Fabric / Shoe / Story Installations*
Location: Dining Room
collaborative project by On-Site Artists (broken down to different installations)
In the main dining room, participating artists with help from the hosts, hung up fishing lines across the room from which they strung stories wrapped in cloth. The stories were photocopies of journal entries by Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast clients about their experiences with personal health and body choices. The cloth in which the stories were wrapped was donated to VBB by women from Houston’s Pakistani community. The multi-colored strings that artists used to tie the stories in the cloth were derived from Sufi rituals of tying strings to make wishes.
